Iām Bec, an interdisciplinary painter and video artist. I have a background in oil painting, collage, and digital illustration. Currently, I create multi-layered video journals, and paintings with colored pencils.
My images originate from my fascination with the digital landscape, online culture, and the tangible memories we form behind the blue light. The fastness of the device accentuates the slowness of nature. It reconstructs our psychological narrative surrounding real life and the real self.
My curiosity drives me to research worldly phenomena and the human response to visual experience. I study chromatics to understand how some rainbows can be formed by nature, and how some can be constructed by hand or machine. I study phenomenology to learn how all of the formations of these rainbows can elicit the same emotional reaction in the mind.
I apply my findings through my process, wherein I slow down the immediacy of my digital layering through traditional mediums. My videos are my contemplation. My paintings output my joy derived from having lived and learned.
